About Zehbel: The Clever One

Zehbel: The Clever One is a 116,359 wc book on the Roman family’s adventurous life in Iran during the decade leading up to the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Mike and Lucretia Roman moved to Iran in 1967 when Mike, a highly-trained FAA expert in installing distance measuring devices, RADAR and other equipment, was hired as part of the Shah’s plan to bring Iran into the 20th century. He spent the first five years installing specialized equipment on air bases all over Iran. The Shah and his top generals were impressed by Mike’s astounding expertise, design and management skills, and his ingenious solutions to the problems he encountered. They asked him to work for the Imperial Iranian Air Force and gave him the rank of Major General. For the next five years, Mike continued working with the Iranian military in a job that became increasingly dangerous as terrorists worked hand in hand with the CIA and others to bring down the Shah’s progressive regime.

This is the story of how he and his family survived.
